Matteo Perucchini's Sogno Atlantico

In December 2015, Matteo Perucchini faced the biggest challenge of his life, crossing the Atlantic Ocean as solo rower. He took part in the famous Talisker Atlantic Challenge, considered by many to be one of the toughest endurance races in the world. 

All on his own

Alone, completely devoid of any support, 100% self-sufficient and aboard a boat exclusively powered by his intense desire to achieve his goal. Matteo finally completed the crossing in 52 days, conquering the first place of the solo category and setting a new race record.

Getting the boat ready

In November 2014, we started getting his boat ready to face this monumental challenge. We turned a double rowing boat into a single, restored all electrical wiring, installed the electronic safety and navigation systems, the solar panels so that he could power his onboard computer, the marine watermaker, and all satellite devices. We also designed, developed and produced the steering system, applied the team branding using the wrapping technique, tailor all rowing settings to the athlete’s needs and supplied the necessary equipment. On completion of the work, we carried out all required tests requested by the race organisers, including the capsize tests. We were also involved in providing technical support at the start of the race in La Gomera.

What matters most

Sogno Atlantico was not only a physical challenge. Matteo contributed to raising funds for two causes close to his heart: Associazione Italiana per la lotta al Neuroblastoma O.N.L.U.S. and Cardiac Risk in the Young.
